Global wArmIng, a wArning tO all!!

Phew... the intimidating global warming oral test is finally over. Now I’m completely relieved. Let me recall my reflection to that Carbon’s New Math article. It’s really worth to memorize. To deal with global warming, we primarily need to work on the figures. Before the industrial revolution in 19th Century, there were 280 parts per million of carbon in the earth’s atmosphere. It equated to the global average temperature of 57 degrees Fahrenheit. Civilization grew up in a world whose thermostat is set by that number. In the 1950s, it was at the 315 level. And now, it is at 380, and increasing 2 parts per million annually. It means the extra heat traps by the Carbon dioxide is enough to warm the earth considerably. Now we can see that almost every frozen thing in the earth start to melting and it sets the rise of the sea. In addition, the seasons and rainfall pattern have changed.

There is no clear data suggesting where the catastrophe looms but now we’re getting a better picture. A series of reports indicates that 450 parts per million is the threshold that we have to respect. It doesn’t include other greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide. In future centuries there is a big possibility to face the Greenland and the West Antarctic’s ice sheet to melt. Subsequently, the sea level will increase in a great proportion.

We are 35 years away, if the concentration keeps increasing by 2 part per million per year. Therefore, it is a fantastic math, make us human realize our life is being threatening by the global warming.

Lazy Lazy.....(eNdemOnisM)

My fish were on diet recently. I don’t know why they started eating less since I cleaned the aquarium last week. Perhaps it may be because I’d thrown their waterweeds with their baby roe at that time. The waterweeds were rotten, destroying the beauty of the environment, so I had no choice but to scoop them up. I guess they have lost the habitat to hide; thus, making a voiceless complaint against me. What else to do if there is no male fish willing to incubate them? Huh? >.《
As if my fish running out of mood to eat the feedstuff, me too running out of words to type my journal today. I am too lazy to do anything now, as lazy as a pig. What’s full in my mind now is that there are 27 days more that I could go home. Longing for home, longing for everything in my hometown, and I’ve longing for many thousands hours. I start pondering my future again in this peaceful night. I am conscientious about it. How could I make my future leave no regrets? I think what I can do now is just perish the present.
Listening to the song “Grandfather’s clock” while typing my journal now, I think I’m already the most content of all throughout the world. I give little thought of fame and wealth, I’m even not acting like the worldly-minded person, what I want is simple. The most unsophisticated person in the world always aspires after eudemonism. When I type out this word, I start surfing on the net about it. I found that there’s really a lot to learn in this world; knowledge is really somewhat endless to pursue. At last, I think I misused it too.
Anyway, just forget about it because it’s time to bed. Good night all~ (q`_`p)

Little Kool 1210

Tonight is a commemorable night; Little Kool will leave me and his second owner tomorrow. Soon, he will become our everlasting memory. It is hard to tell the feeling if you know that you are going to lose something that is no longer yours, because you have started to doubt whether it belongs to you yet has it ever your reason of concentration. So, say farewell to Little Kool. Nobody could live forever, and so do you. Quite sad because of your going, but you do leave with excuse ahead of time; thus no one can blame on you. You would be remembered as my first and ever best partner at wheel, I promise. It is really worth to own you once, for I’m deeply satisfied with the precious moment you have given to me and your second owner. Let me count on it. When we first got you, we were really happy but you got a broken body. So we spent some money on you to reborn you. Then I tried my first time riding on you after you alive. I swore you had recognized me as your best cyclist because you didn’t fall me down from beginning till today, not even once. But today, I wanna say sorry to have failed you. Don’t blame me, okay? I am sure I’ve made a right choice. Once there was a small accident occurred on us and we were just slightly injured; but, your mouth started bleeding since then. I believe you’d lost a tooth. To pay off for that incident, I help you fixing it so that you can leave us with an unbroken body. Nonetheless, I start crying in my heart when I found that you were once so important in my life. I also realized that when I chose to abandon you gradually, you made your adieu much hastier. Maybe I shouldn’t have that thought first, but I was just trying to lighten your responsibility. I knew you will understand, so don’t take revenge on me ya~ Truthfully, I will put your spirit into the next Kool next semester.

The present-- Gift or now?

There is a presentation of listening and speaking class tomorrow, all of us need to prepare a reflection of an audio book. I’ve spent two days for the preparation, and I want to share with you what I had learned from it today. The title of the audio book that I listened is “The Present”. It is an engaging story of a young man’s journey to adulthood, and his search for The Present, a mysterious and elusive gift he first hears about from a great old man. According to the old man, the present is “the best present a person can receive.” It is not a present that you can find under a tree in Christmas, nor something others buy for you. But it is the thing that everybody owned since they were little, and what they’ve forgotten when they grow up. So, what’s the present that we own but unaware of actually? The little boy couldn’t figure out but did not give up pursuing the precious present because it is like a real present that sounded so wonderful to him.Later, when the young boy becomes a young man, disillusioned with his work and his life, he returns to ask the old man, once again, to help him find The Present. The old man responds, “Only you have the power to find The Present for yourself.” The old man didn’t want to tell the young man directly what the present is but offer him some clues to find the answer itself. So the young man was frustrated but still embarks on a tireless search for this magical gift that holds the secret to his personal happiness and business success. After the young man has searched high and low and then given up his relentless pursuit; he relaxes and eventually discovers what the present is. To heartily concentrate on what’s going on in present is actually the present that we own since we were young. He was reminded by the old man that when he was young, he did help his neighbor to mow the lawn and got some money that are little but more satisfaction than he has compare to now. At that time he was just thinking about how was he going to mow the lawn, and enjoyed while doing the job.

I think this is an inspiring story that reminded all of us from our past. Humans do not stop pursuing things for future because they always want to make the best for themselves. Therefore, the insatiability has led us to neglect what is happened in present. In addition, we have lost the most origin of ourselves in this modern society that make us unconsciously put the present aside from us. In fact, focus on what will make us happier and more successful in our work and personal life is the best gift we can give ourselves.

Many of the people I have observed could have been even happier and more successful, in their careers and their lives, had they been given the gift of The Present? My brother recently joined in a game company as his internship in his technical school. Instead of studying he will need to spend most of his time working in a new environment. However, he didn’t easily get frustrated in his abundant work because he believes that he is doing what he is interested in. So I suppose he deserved the life he is running now. With plans, sometimes maybe out of schedule but he did use his time adequately. Truthfully, he is currently living with the present that some of us may have abandoned today.

I suppose that she strike a false note

Tonight my mom phoned me again, and that was the third time she called since last Saturday. I think I'm gradually losing my patience: The first call was bad news. Uncle Ping who got a cancer fainted while helping Uncle SehGiu in the farm. The cancer cells had spread to his brain, but the doctor diagnosed that there is still 70% of strike-rate, which indicates that curing from this disease still remains hope. There is still a slim hope of success, so actually it was not really bad news. What made me frustrated was that my mom's superstition. She said that she is unable to visit Uncle Ping because the fortune-teller told her not to attend any funerals or grievous occasions this year. Also, she mentioned that if my brother and I were still at our hometown, we could represent her to visit Uncle Ping. It was not our first time being her representative; are we still responsible to do so even though we are not at her side? I could almost expect what my aunts and cousins responses would be then. Of course they won't blame us, but just my mom.

I didn't remember what's her contents of the second call, maybe it was a call about her bad health. If what the fortune-teller told is true, why isn't she healthy now? What she talked to me tonight was that my uncle had finally succeeded in his critical operation. Needless to say, there are still cancer cells in his brain, they are not totally cleaned off; however, it is still considered lucky to overcome this difficulty. I knew that she won't want to spend that money on that treatment as she even suggested not to take this course. But it is rather like sending his own brother's life away than rescue him from suffering if you don't offer money to help him. Why couldn't she understand? Why nobody included me dare to make her understand?

My Aunt Moi is always the sponsor for the medical treatment fee of Uncle Ping. She is the most considerate of all and she is the one who cares brotherliness the most among all my aunts and uncles. Perhaps my mom is the worst. She even gave up the opportunity to see Uncle Ping's last face, if that unfortune really happened. I couldn't fight her back otherwise she would think of nobody is with her, which then leads her to hypochondria that I most worried about. I think Aunt Moi did talk back, maybe she have scolded my mom for not accompanying her to the hospital, because my mom complained a lot to me about her just now. She told me that if Aunt Moi so wanted to help him then go ahead and help why did she want my mom to get together?

After listening her grumbles, I think i owe Aunt Moi a debt again. A debt of human kindness that will endless to pay off.

Little Touch

3months after school starts, I realize that some of my acquaintances have dropped off the edge of earth. Actually there's one I haven't met so far since summer break's over. I think he might be very busy in his last-year-study of collegiate life. So, I just wish him to take care of his own health despite spending the whole time for study. The other is my previous roommate--Wen, who is diligently preparing for her future graduate school. Once you fail in the exam, your dream will be bursted up just like a balloon. She told me that the coming exam is really important for her. I remember I was feeling so sick two weeks ago, and she was kind of dropped in to visit me and then found me sick coincidently. I was really touched, she came to me after her whole-day of tuition class, just to give me a hello kitty--a popular dividend everybody is collecting in 7-11 convenience store lately. I was not fond of hello kitty that much, but I just told her once that it is really rarely to see any doraemon, hello kitty, or dragonbear merchandise selling in Malaysia. However, I didn't expect that she would keep it in mind for so long, that's why I was really touched. In return, I went to visit her last Saturday's night. I gave her some draft papers which I had collected for a period and a PRINGLE onion chips as an encouragement while she is studying. So both of us are really touching each other's heart I think.

There was one more thing happenned recently which made me moved too. Once.I found that my bicycle was collapsed last Wednesday after Japanese class because of the strong wind. The iron chain lost its way from the gearwheel and I was totally not-knowing what could I do. I have no experience at fixing it. At the time I gave up to do anything and ready to go, a senior offered her help immediately. That seemed a little easy at first but my bicycle’s iron chain was too old to move by the wooden chopstick. I wanted her to stop fixing it because I saw that her hands were dirty after it. But she wasn’t listened and didn’t mean to give up so fast. Then her companion turned out to help her. Finally my bicycle was repaired and they both got a pair of dirty hands. I was quite ashamed, so I accompanied them to wash their hands after that. I knew I was really appreciated what they did, and it was such an affecting scene that I would not forget. What I was mostly touching is that—I haven’t known her so deep, we are not so familiar to each other, but she offered her help without a minute of doubtness!

sick for weeks...

I am terribly sick recently, having a bad flu as most people do. I hadn't thought that I would be sick for over a week; these are true nightmares for me. Since I was too weak to get out of the dorm during weekends, I took sick leave at some of my part-time-jobs too .In addition, I skipped the classes for two days and was doing quite bad in my mid-term exam paper. Nonetheless, it had all over today, which meant there was no turning point for my fate in the test. The last I did bad was the English Literature. The answers were in my head but I figured them out just after the exam. My mind was awfully blank while writing down the answer of essay questions, they were even not yet completed as the professor said, " Time's up." Maybe everybody is having fun at this moment, because the mid-term exam has really become the past. However, it isn't my holiday. Two quizzes , one composition, and a transciption of NPR-- these things are killing me! So this weekend I am going to stay at the dorm other than the time to work. Oh! I have to wake up to work at 8am tomorrow. Am I not having fun for my life? It is totally dull and even having not enough time to be so dull. What's more, the global warming stuff that Michael wanted us to prepare for our coming mid-term(his mid-term is always delayed so that we won't be stressed to prepare it with other subjects during the mid-term week, which I prefer this way very much.) is really tough for me. I even can't understand some points and I think others are not getting the idea too but I think we really should start helping each other for it,oKay? At last, I hope there will be no more snivelling while typing my next journal~><

Pada Malam saya lupa Bahasa Melayu...*(At the night i forgot Malay language)

A funniest thing happened a few minutes ago. My brother asked me about some Malay language words tonight through the MSN because there are some Malaysian authoritarians coming to his campus this Sunday and he is charged to welcome them in the reception. It was a great challenge for me who didn’t speak the national language for a long time. It is not my mother tongue, either. Furthermore, I was not in an environment that full of Malay people. Therefore, those are the excuses I gave for my absent-minded. Come on, here is Taiwan, man…Don’t force me. I was all nerves after he asked me those words, for I couldn’t remember all of them, and my mind was mixed them up with different other words. Finally, I seek for help from my one of my Malaysian friend. Compare to him, he remember all those words while I felt hard to figure out. But only when he told me I was just like reminded of the past. It is so ridiculous that I finally found out that I have forgotten Malay Language today. Oh, my god!

Forget about the conversation that we had, my brother was the first to give up then. He was exhausted and needed to take rest right after it. So I yelled him to leave fast for disturbing me in writing this journal. It was so unkind of him, so black-hearted! (Crying)

Tonight is the night i feel doubful about my future again. But before that there is one thing to be congratulated, that is, my insomnia has been cured three days ago. I was not that hard to fall asleep again. It just take me half an hour to get into sleep. So i am really happy about it. i think i have become a normal person, i am back, i have returned, and i am recovered!!>~<// hooray! So now let's come back to my topic. I wondered what can i do after graduated and what's my job then. It was really bad. I even feel afraid to think about it. Maybe i juz shouldn'tbe so excited about it because i am just a sophomore temporarily, but i think it is necessary to start planning about my future now. ANy suggestions?? I'm lost. Think i gotta escape from real-life and slip into slumberland for it is a good choice to take now.A cool night. Goodnite to all~

BechHam CHia

I went to Tainan to meet up with my childhood brother last Saturday. It was an exotic trip for my first time going out of Taichung by my own. It took me three hours to arrive the terminal station of Tainan. I felt bad being trapped in the stinky coach, and I could hardly breathe or sleep in it. Therefore, I started to concentrate in the film and tried to sit properly in my seat. However, it was still countless of me to turn over and over. Finally, the Taiwanese bus driver dropped me at the taxi station which I instinctively believed what I’d heard from the language that I am not familiar with was that: this is the terminal. So I called to my brother for help. But I was kinda regret for not finding out first where I was before calling him because I must then have to make another call again after the first call. I even didn’t know how to describe where I was and that totally made both of us frustrated. = =
After 10 minutes standing under the sizzling sun of Tainan, somebody called out my infant name loud which I felt quite embarrassed. I wonder how long have nobody called me that name since I came to Taiwan. It was very funny while I saw the guy wearing pink helmet had finally came. I couldn’t stop laughing although I found out that the bike with the pink helmets was borrowed from one of his female friends at last.
My brother studied in National Cheng Da University. He joins in the football team and calls himself Beckham Chia, which means he likes soccer very much, doesn’t mention about his football skill actually. I just feel that he has become a funny guy after grown-up, no more childish kid as it in my memory. He took me to his campus and a famous tourist attraction—An Ping Fort. I really enjoyed the time at Tainan and it was my first trip in Taiwan for this semester.

inSomnIA...>>>>......>>>>.....<<<<,,,,,<<<<<<,,

I am rare and sleepy now. Somebody helps! Everybody has gone to bed. I just wonder how I am going to prepare my test tomorrow; lots of things had bothered my mind. I am so frustrated and sleepy. I went to see a doctor yesterday. He warned me not to sleep so late, but now I am still sitting in front of my desk. I knew I’d caught insomnia for a long time, but I rejected to have the medicine since then. Now I really don’t want to force myself to swallow it, but it had already done. So half an hour later I would go to bed, probably giving up my test and all the stuff I haven’t finished. My life is so full of pressure. Yet tomorrow is still the day which I have a lot of things to overcome. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth to live my life in this way… Feel sad and pity in myself in this lonely night. The weather has changed for weeks, and every night is getting colder and colder. I know my heart is as cold as it…somehow I wonder my heart is following the weather; getting colder day by day. I miss a lot of people in my life. I really miss them a lot, especially someone who really cares about my life. It is as if I hear my heart says “I wanna go home I wanna go home”. So when that day has come, I would allow myself to take rest as much as I could. 1.28am time to sleep, will be continued tomorrow.
It has already passed the noon time. I still haven’t finished my homework and I am in a daze now. Chris gave me a pack of European homemade biscuits yesterday, which I think I can finish it tonight because I decide to bring it to language center while at work. It is really so kind of her, she who concerns me with my insomnia and encourages me to sleep tight by sending text message through mobile phone always makes me feel touch and warm in heart. I miss her so much, my dearest summer break roommate.

nEVer gIvE uP

I feel bad today. Maybe I should get into bed early before I get sick, but I know I couldn’t, a lot of jobs need to be done in time, and can’t be left behind. I have to work at 5.30pm and one and half an hour later from now on I would have left my dorm and then go to Michael’s oral training class. It’s a really busy life the way I run, I know, but I just couldn’t help escaping from it. Actually, it’s hard to tell my feeling now, I don’t really like this way of my life. Whenever I felt exhausted after back from work, I always thought: Tomorrow will be better, and today was not often the worst of my days. However, tomorrow comes, and the day after tomorrow passes by; day by day, time flies away. There is never a nice day of tomorrow because tomorrow never really comes. Time is precious. But I don’t think I am using it well. Although I spend every minute, every hour with every single thing I think I really should do, it is kinda wasting my time though. I am not happy, I need places to scream, but where? My heart is no longer allowed me to stay in this frame, this style, this moment. I could have changed, since PIECES always yearn for freedom, and they don’t like themselves being chained. And so do I. I am a Pieces. I am quite believed in the prediction of the Horoscope brochure; what the people in those brochures predicts is always approached accurate and credible. So, just let me wake up with no struggling anymore right after I open my eyes early in the morning, just let me sleep, sleep tight and no nightmare in the time I am on bed. I got into bed quite early in these few days. I still couldn’t fall asleep as soon as I wish though. Maybe I am getting homesick again. Expecting to go home this coming winter, I really have a great desire on it. Every time when I think about home, think of my father, I just feel like I should be there right now. I would feel ashamed if the consequence of coming here resulting me to go home immediately, so I must quit myself out of this kind of bad idea at once. Never give up, never, and never say these words again!!

My gReat MisfOrtuNE oF 10/9

“Misfortunes never come singly.” Early in the morning half past eight (10/9 Tues.), I was overslept for our composition class. I found that I was alone in the dorm at that time, nobody’s waken me up, and I was poorly left behind. Jumping off my bed, I was swift to brush my teeth, taking off my pajamas and put on a leisure wear, then hurried to school by my little “KOoL”, which is my bike actually. It is not how bad I wanna talk about my roommates; just that we are having different class and they didn’t know I have class on 8 a.m. So, there is just one person I gotta blame, that’s me, myself. I stayed up studying until 3 o’clock at midnight, it’s possibly because I started doing assignment at 1 a.m., not because I was too hardworking! Hahaha…so just don’t misunderstand at this point.

The most ridiculous thing was that I was mistaken that the Japanese Class is on Thursday, so the test will be definitely on Thursday as I guess. But I was wrong in fact, it was actually one of today’s classes. I got to know it from one Class A student after the Knowledge Base Class, which means Japanese Class is going to be the next lesson. So I was rushing to my KOoL for the second time, and I was so worried when I couldn’t find it. I thought I was too jumpy to find it. I met Hua La La when I was disorientated, or maybe I could say it was he who saw me first, because I have no intention to look at people at that time, what I worried was just, “Where is my KOoL?” “Su Xia,what are you doing?” he asked. I answered without thinking of the answer, “Finding my bike la.” And then I saw he left and I ought to calm down and scan carefully where it was.

Thanks Hua La La that I found it at last; however, KOol was too old to move anymore since today after Japanese Class. I was desperate when I lost it, and now I dare not use it since the mechanics told me KOoL will be died soon, very soon from now on. So I’ve made a decision: I’m footing instead of riding for Thursday and Friday these two days. If you meet me in our campus on those days, find me walking on the streets, don’t forget to ask about my KOoL, I think it will be appreciated for your condolence.

Hey! You! Stop killing friends! What do you think friends are for???

Actually, I’m quite fed up with my life recently. While summer break is over, school starts, I work daily until 10 p.m. just except Sunday. Life is so busy and my schedule is like everyday half a study day and the other half a working day. I give few times for my own study even my own entertainment. Sometimes, I wonder if I can handle both of them very good or I might lose one of them or otherwise, more terrible, both. These coming weeks seem almost the hard time of the first semester of my sophomore life, but I’m always an optimistic person, I hold positive attitude even though I got to face a lot of problems. Anyway, “Who don’t get trouble as I do is the luckiest person in world”, sometimes I would think like that. So, just solve it if you got a problem, just face it if you are in any trouble, DO NOT ESCAPE! Because I didn’t do so, so you shouldn’t have given any cop-out. Hahaha…Do forgive me for my manner of speaking.

I gain no supports from my old friends, because they are so far away from my current life. Or maybe, in other words, they can’t involve in it not just only because of that, but because they were not trying to understand me. I know I receive blaming behind of me for not going here or there, joining this or that, but I don’t really care, because if you are my friend, you would understand my situation. Furthermore, give a blame to a person like me is making the burden on my shoulder heavier. How do you feel if your friends force you to do something that you think you do not have that ability? I guess the answers will be: “Why do you keep trying to discomfit me?”, “I am totally frustrated!”

Therefore, if I got to know your blame is so unfair to me, I’m sorry that you’re disqualified, we’re failed to be friends anymore. I would have such kind of feelings because one of my friends is being treated badly in recent. Do you have such kind of friends that make you feel that he/she is killing you? Share with me if you have, and stop killing your friends if you are the kind I’ve mentioned!

My philosophty of life

My philosophy of life—To be who I want to be.

"If you got a dream, you'll need to protect it. Not even when others tell you that you can't make it, you just keep on doing what you want in your mind. Not even when your parents or someone you respects and so forth tells you not to pursue your dream, you give a minute to try trusting them...and, not even if it was me! "One of my best friends, Yee Sum, told me this when I was in intermediate school. I was deeply impressed by her words, for I hadn't realized I would have any dreams about my future. Until today, those words remain repetitive approaching to my mind.

In my country, many people around us seemed to have much pressure on talking about their dreams. Most of us are having different circumstances, and that means there is a clear distinction between the wealth and the poor. However, just for the one on the middle side, it still looked like dreams are inaccessible. And they have a mutual excuse-- reality is sometimes crucial beyond what you could imagine. Sadly, in other words, dreams are giving negative elements in their life. Why not making “dream” a positive word? If we change our perspective to strike out on this topic, we will find it more agreeable that this word is meaningful. Dreams could be fantastic, full of adventuresome, and challenging.

Now it makes me think of when I was about 12, the age about to end my elementary school life, I asked my cousin what was her job out of curiosity. “I wish I would be like you, still studying in campus,” she said. “Now I work as an account clerk, helping others with their annually financial report handed to the government. But I am not satisfied with who I am, what I am doing now,” she added. I understood what she meant. In order to avoid myself becoming her case, I set out an aim, that’s my philosophy of life—to be who I want to be. That’s why, I am here now. Where I am standing is satisfying me, making me happy. So do not tell me dream is far away from what we can hold, because I know it is intangible but can eventually be visible. There is an underlying reason for the failure, that is, to give up. But, I chose the opposite of it. God bless me then~
