Global wArmIng, a wArning tO all!!

Phew... the intimidating global warming oral test is finally over. Now I’m completely relieved. Let me recall my reflection to that Carbon’s New Math article. It’s really worth to memorize. To deal with global warming, we primarily need to work on the figures. Before the industrial revolution in 19th Century, there were 280 parts per million of carbon in the earth’s atmosphere. It equated to the global average temperature of 57 degrees Fahrenheit. Civilization grew up in a world whose thermostat is set by that number. In the 1950s, it was at the 315 level. And now, it is at 380, and increasing 2 parts per million annually. It means the extra heat traps by the Carbon dioxide is enough to warm the earth considerably. Now we can see that almost every frozen thing in the earth start to melting and it sets the rise of the sea. In addition, the seasons and rainfall pattern have changed.

There is no clear data suggesting where the catastrophe looms but now we’re getting a better picture. A series of reports indicates that 450 parts per million is the threshold that we have to respect. It doesn’t include other greenhouse gases such as methane and nitrous oxide. In future centuries there is a big possibility to face the Greenland and the West Antarctic’s ice sheet to melt. Subsequently, the sea level will increase in a great proportion.

We are 35 years away, if the concentration keeps increasing by 2 part per million per year. Therefore, it is a fantastic math, make us human realize our life is being threatening by the global warming.

Lazy Lazy.....(eNdemOnisM)

My fish were on diet recently. I don’t know why they started eating less since I cleaned the aquarium last week. Perhaps it may be because I’d thrown their waterweeds with their baby roe at that time. The waterweeds were rotten, destroying the beauty of the environment, so I had no choice but to scoop them up. I guess they have lost the habitat to hide; thus, making a voiceless complaint against me. What else to do if there is no male fish willing to incubate them? Huh? >.《
As if my fish running out of mood to eat the feedstuff, me too running out of words to type my journal today. I am too lazy to do anything now, as lazy as a pig. What’s full in my mind now is that there are 27 days more that I could go home. Longing for home, longing for everything in my hometown, and I’ve longing for many thousands hours. I start pondering my future again in this peaceful night. I am conscientious about it. How could I make my future leave no regrets? I think what I can do now is just perish the present.
Listening to the song “Grandfather’s clock” while typing my journal now, I think I’m already the most content of all throughout the world. I give little thought of fame and wealth, I’m even not acting like the worldly-minded person, what I want is simple. The most unsophisticated person in the world always aspires after eudemonism. When I type out this word, I start surfing on the net about it. I found that there’s really a lot to learn in this world; knowledge is really somewhat endless to pursue. At last, I think I misused it too.
Anyway, just forget about it because it’s time to bed. Good night all~ (q`_`p)

Eudemonism-幸福論-

正しくは「幸福説」または「幸福主義」。幸福こそが人生の目的である―という主義のことです。

Little Kool 1210

Tonight is a commemorable night; Little Kool will leave me and his second owner tomorrow. Soon, he will become our everlasting memory. It is hard to tell the feeling if you know that you are going to lose something that is no longer yours, because you have started to doubt whether it belongs to you yet has it ever your reason of concentration. So, say farewell to Little Kool. Nobody could live forever, and so do you. Quite sad because of your going, but you do leave with excuse ahead of time; thus no one can blame on you. You would be remembered as my first and ever best partner at wheel, I promise. It is really worth to own you once, for I’m deeply satisfied with the precious moment you have given to me and your second owner. Let me count on it. When we first got you, we were really happy but you got a broken body. So we spent some money on you to reborn you. Then I tried my first time riding on you after you alive. I swore you had recognized me as your best cyclist because you didn’t fall me down from beginning till today, not even once. But today, I wanna say sorry to have failed you. Don’t blame me, okay? I am sure I’ve made a right choice. Once there was a small accident occurred on us and we were just slightly injured; but, your mouth started bleeding since then. I believe you’d lost a tooth. To pay off for that incident, I help you fixing it so that you can leave us with an unbroken body. Nonetheless, I start crying in my heart when I found that you were once so important in my life. I also realized that when I chose to abandon you gradually, you made your adieu much hastier. Maybe I shouldn’t have that thought first, but I was just trying to lighten your responsibility. I knew you will understand, so don’t take revenge on me ya~ Truthfully, I will put your spirit into the next Kool next semester.

The present-- Gift or now?

There is a presentation of listening and speaking class tomorrow, all of us need to prepare a reflection of an audio book. I’ve spent two days for the preparation, and I want to share with you what I had learned from it today. The title of the audio book that I listened is “The Present”. It is an engaging story of a young man’s journey to adulthood, and his search for The Present, a mysterious and elusive gift he first hears about from a great old man. According to the old man, the present is “the best present a person can receive.” It is not a present that you can find under a tree in Christmas, nor something others buy for you. But it is the thing that everybody owned since they were little, and what they’ve forgotten when they grow up. So, what’s the present that we own but unaware of actually? The little boy couldn’t figure out but did not give up pursuing the precious present because it is like a real present that sounded so wonderful to him.Later, when the young boy becomes a young man, disillusioned with his work and his life, he returns to ask the old man, once again, to help him find The Present. The old man responds, “Only you have the power to find The Present for yourself.” The old man didn’t want to tell the young man directly what the present is but offer him some clues to find the answer itself. So the young man was frustrated but still embarks on a tireless search for this magical gift that holds the secret to his personal happiness and business success. After the young man has searched high and low and then given up his relentless pursuit; he relaxes and eventually discovers what the present is. To heartily concentrate on what’s going on in present is actually the present that we own since we were young. He was reminded by the old man that when he was young, he did help his neighbor to mow the lawn and got some money that are little but more satisfaction than he has compare to now. At that time he was just thinking about how was he going to mow the lawn, and enjoyed while doing the job.

I think this is an inspiring story that reminded all of us from our past. Humans do not stop pursuing things for future because they always want to make the best for themselves. Therefore, the insatiability has led us to neglect what is happened in present. In addition, we have lost the most origin of ourselves in this modern society that make us unconsciously put the present aside from us. In fact, focus on what will make us happier and more successful in our work and personal life is the best gift we can give ourselves.

Many of the people I have observed could have been even happier and more successful, in their careers and their lives, had they been given the gift of The Present? My brother recently joined in a game company as his internship in his technical school. Instead of studying he will need to spend most of his time working in a new environment. However, he didn’t easily get frustrated in his abundant work because he believes that he is doing what he is interested in. So I suppose he deserved the life he is running now. With plans, sometimes maybe out of schedule but he did use his time adequately. Truthfully, he is currently living with the present that some of us may have abandoned today.
